TEMPLETON — The Templeton Community Preservation Committee voted 8-0 to renew its $1,750 Community Preservation Coalition membership for fiscal year 2027. Committee member Ken reported the Gilman Way softball fields are "99 percent of the way" finished and should reopen to the public in September after fence and backstop replacement. The Boynton Library renovation has a remaining balance of just $717 after a $115,000 contractor invoice, with reopening awaiting a reworked fire alarm system and building-inspector sign-off.
The town paid $46,000 toward First Church steeple restoration on July 31, leaving $112,700, with work targeted for completion before a September 12 wedding. Members floated a new potential project removing dead ash trees from town land, with one member calling the die-off "a catastrophic failure" rather than routine maintenance. The $130,000-funded Templeton Heroes Park veterans monument remains in design, with organizers still identifying eligible veterans, including recent Desert Storm veterans, for inclusion.
