Templeton's Community Preservation Committee tracks nine active projects as Baldwinville housing nears its first leases. More than 900 people applied for 50 units at the former Baldwinville High School, with roughly 228 self-certifying for local preference; management is targeting October 1 for signed leases. Members said the project's acknowledgement plaque should be corrected from "former Baldwinville High School" to "Templeton High School," the name still carved in stone atop the building, and one member offered $350 from a class reunion fund toward recognizing that history.
Separately, the Heroes Park veterans memorial saw its granite-stone estimate climb to roughly $185,000, up $11,000 to $14,000 after organizers found more names to engrave, with a 12- to 18-month lead time once bid. The committee mailed requests for proposals to six firms for the town's Open Space Plan, giving them 21 days to respond, and approved its August 13 minutes unanimously by roll call.
