Templeton's Select Board agreed informally to dozens of budget cuts but took no final budget vote. At a special meeting, members reviewed a no-override budget from Town Administrator James Ryan and member proposals, seeking to avoid closing departments. Consensus cuts included legal services held at $76,000, $5,500 in police clothing allowances, $5,000 in ammunition and Taser cartridges, and removal of a police cruiser from capital.
Members added $20,000 back for MS4 stormwater work. A board member said the town cannot find "$2 million additional to pay the school assessment." The board voted 4-0 to work past 10 p.m. and will finish Highway and the remaining departments Monday.
