Select Board · Meeting of October 22, 2026
Templeton's Select Board voted unanimously to hire Carter Terenzini as interim town administrator through June 30, 2027. The 5-0 vote came after a public interview following the resignation of former Town Administrator James Ryan, with Chair Jeffrey Bennett, Vice Chair Timothy Toth, Clerk April Cover, and members Robert May and Candace Graves all voting yes. Terenzini, who led Templeton from 2016 to 2020, warned that regional retirement assessments will keep rising 10 to 15 percent annually "driven more by the legacy liability" than current staffing, and said his first move would be freezing non-critical hiring.
He told the board, "If you have no money to pay a police officer, is that a choice you want to continue to make?" The board amended the contract to attach his job description as "Attachment A" and incorporated a late edit narrowing a grant-application restriction tied to a pending School Street Water Works grant.
