Select Board · Meeting of August 20, 2026
Templeton's Select Board approved final override ballot language and pushed the special election to September 28. The board voted 5-0 Thursday to approve a $1,388,534 override question funding six police officers, four firefighters, a dispatcher, six highway workers and other staff positions for fiscal 2027. Members also voted 5-0 to amend an August 17 decision, moving the election date from September 22 to September 28 after the town clerk said she needed the finalized question and date simultaneously before a planned September vacation.
Board member Jeffrey Bennett, who ran the meeting, said the override wording "has to be very specific" to satisfy state attorney general requirements, and took responsibility for the scheduling mix-up, saying "that's kind of on me."
