Conservation · Meeting of August 12, 2026

Templeton's Conservation Commission approved two wetlands determinations and flagged a possible cordwood overage on adjoining logging plans. The board voted 3-0 for a negative determination with conditions clearing a failed septic system replacement at 987 Patriots Road, represented by engineer Jack Maloney of Dillis & Roy Civil Design Group on behalf of owner Gene Kotu. It also voted 3-0 for a positive determination confirming wetland boundaries on a farmland parcel for owner Alan Druin, after supplemental soil borings found "no hydric soil indicators." Member Jo-Anne Burdin said she wanted to "expel confidence" that the saturated field was not wetland.

Conservation Agent Jessica Case told the board two new forest cutting plans on adjoining Otter River Road and Patriots Road parcels together total 64 million board feet and 80 cords of wood, above the 50-cord limit for a single filing, and said she would contact the state forester for guidance.
