Templeton's Finance Committee voted 0-4 against recommending the fiscal 2027 operating budget article over a planned $1.2 million stabilization withdrawal.
Finance Committee · Meeting of October 14, 2026
Templeton's Finance Committee voted 0-4 against recommending the fiscal 2027 operating budget article over a planned $1.2 million stabilization withdrawal. Chairwoman Jacqueline McCumber presided as Town Accountant Amber warned the draw "may or may not" hurt the town's bond rating and said the general stabilization fund, now "a little over $1.5 million," would drop to roughly $300,000. Members said the withdrawal would push the fund below its own 5-to-10-percent policy floor.
The committee separately backed, 4-0, rescinding $3,582,883 in unused Templeton Elementary School borrowing authority and $664,609 in old septic and landfill debt, and raising the tax title revolving fund cap from $23,000 to $75,000. Town Meeting is set for October 21 at the middle school auditorium.
