Templeton panel elects new clerk, adds subcommittee member
Finance Committee · Meeting of September 3, 2026
Templeton Finance Committee warns override failure could cost the town's ambulance license. Chairwoman Jacqueline McCumber and member Liz said the $1.3 million September 28 override would restore only a midnight police shift among cuts the Select Board already made after trimming $900,000 from the budget in May; the committee's own emergency fund was cut from $50,000 to $25,000. Liz flagged a $1,000 Parks and Recreation stipend paid to Katie McClure, whose husband chairs the Parks and Recreation Commission, as an undocumented potential conflict of interest; department representative Bill Gunnars said he personally signs nearly all invoices to avoid such conflicts.
"With how tight everything is, we need to keep a close eye on it," Liz said. The committee also elected Aaron Hardy as clerk and appointed member Jesse to the Capital Improvements Subcommittee, both by unanimous roll call, after Liz was barred from that panel under a new conflict-of-interest bylaw.
